Exclusive: Work on Mip TV is almost underway, business rights have taken over the rights to the BBC’s two buzz format: Drop And Awesome portrait.
Both will join a huge spring slate and will be shopping at the Cannes market, which is being held for buyers worldwide for two more days from tomorrow.
Host and Axis produced by Grammy-winning recording artist Miguel, Drop This is one of the major formats of the newly-re-launched BBC Three, where emerging creative entrepreneurs struggle to win the opportunity to stockpile their first line of clothing to a major UK retailer.
Meanwhile Awesome portrait, Which recently debuted on BBC One, is hosted by UK singer Tiny (formerly known as Tiny Tempah), an enthusiastic art collector who combines an exceptional story with members of the public with a selection of unique and renowned portrait artists. Artists are then challenged to turn these personal and powerful experiences into portraits using various mediums of art, the final part of which is unveiled to the sitters and their family and friends.
Cathy Payne, CEO of Commercial Rights, called the shows “outstanding cut-edge factualities that showcase a variety of crafts at the highest level.”
