Exclusive: Tim Johnson Jr. (Say) And newcomer Payton Z. Basnet is set as a regular series on the Disney Channel Saturday, From a comedy series Black-ish Star Marcy Martin and her Genius Entertainment, and writer-executive producer Norman Vance Jr. (Roll bounce, girlfriends) Production is scheduled to start in May.
Written by Vance, the series introduces teenager Paris Johnson (Daniel Jalad), who sees roller skating as part of her soul – she breathes it in and turns it into a lifestyle. He lives on the weekends because that’s when he can go to his sanctuary, Neon-Light Saturday, a seemingly magical wooden floor roller-rink where the often impossible appears. In this wonderful place, Paris can hang out with her best friends (Way-B-Girls Skate Crew), do choreographing thrilling routines on wheels, hang out with her rivals, navigate life with her DJ brother London (German Harris) and One can work to become the Golden – a member of Saturday’s skating elite, chosen by The Duchess, the mysterious owner of the rink.
Johnson Derek plays Troy in ‘D-Rock’, London’s best friend. A high power but cool rapper with lots of swag! Apparently born with the gift of Gabe, which does not land him and London in hot water.
